Eric L. Johnson, M.D.

Dr. Johnson earned his B.A. from the University of Arizona, his M.D. from Johns Hopkins, and completed his cardiology training at U.C. San Francisco. He was the first cardiologist to perform peripheral interventional procedures in the East Bay and is an expert in the use of catheter techniques to relieve obstructions in peripheral arteries and veins. Dr. Johnson directs investigational programs in carotid stent implantation and is the Chief of Endovascular Services at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center.

1999-2000: Eden Medical Center, Castro Valley, California. Co-investigator with Todd Lempert, interventional neuroradiologist, in trial of carotid stent implantation in high-risk surgical patients Trial currently on hold awaiting distal protection device.

2. Clinical electrophysiology:

1982-83: Rotations on clinical EP service as intern and resident in the Department of Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital with participation in the evaluation and implantation of the first implantable defibrillator devices under direction of Lawrence S. C. Griffith, M.D.
